Nigeria reports death of Cross River State Commissioner Eka Williams
In Nigeria, Cross River State Commissioner for Energy and Renewable Energy Eka Williams has died, Premium Times Nigeria reports. According to the outlet, the official died on Saturday evening while receiving treatment for an illness, the details of which have not been disclosed.

Premium Times Nigeria cites the Vanguard newspaper, which reported Williams' death, citing his brother. The official's brother said Eka Williams would be remembered for a life of dignity.
State Commissioner for Information Ekpenyong Cobham did not answer journalists' phone calls seeking comment on the death of his colleague.

Williams' acquaintances are posting condolences on Facebook. In particular, user Michael Gabriel called him a dedicated public servant and a good person, noting that the official's death was a painful loss for Ikom.
According to the outlet, Williams became the second commissioner to die under the administration of Governor Bassey Otu. In 2025, the state Commissioner for Tourism, Abubakar Ewa, died. There is currently no information on arrangements for Williams' funeral.
