Nigeria plans Niger Delta investment summit to attract up to $50 billion

The Niger Delta Economic and Investment Summit (NDEIS) is scheduled to take place in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, on September 15–17, 2026. The organizers expect to bring together representatives of government, business, investors, financial institutions and development institutions to attract capital and create jobs in the region’s nine states.

This was reported in an opinion column by Premium Times Nigeria. The summit is to be held at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre. It is organized by the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA). The event was initially planned for May but was postponed.

Declared objectives of the summit

The organizers expect more than 1,000 delegates and over 100 exhibitors. They plan to present at least 30 investment-ready projects in the Deal Room. The target volume of investment commitments has been set at up to $50 billion.

NDCCITMA President and summit initiator Idaere Gogo-Ogan said that the region is ready to create 500,000 new jobs through investment development and wealth creation. According to the organizers’ expectations, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is to open the event, while Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is to serve as the summit’s chief host.

Programme areas

The NDEIS programme covers agribusiness and food security, the blue economy and maritime industries, oil, gas and the energy transition. Participants will also consider manufacturing, industrialization and special economic zones, tourism, culture and the creative economy, the digital economy, innovation, human capital development and access to finance.

The keynote address is to be delivered by Access Holdings Chairman Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede. Announced speakers include Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Chairman Chiedu Ebie, NDDC Managing Director and CEO Samuel Ogbuku, Securities and Exchange Commission Director-General Emomotimi Agama, and Renaissance Africa Energy Company CEO Tony Attah. Column author Ehi Braimah is also listed among the summit’s official advisers.
