Nicosia to host anniversary European Researchers’ Night
European Researchers’ Night will take place in Nicosia, Cyprus, on September 25, 2026, marking 20 years since the event was first held in the country. The anniversary program will be organized at the Cyprus State Fairgrounds, Cyprus Mail reports.
The event will be held under the theme CELEBRATE 2.0 – Two Decades of STEAM-Powered Inspiration. It will focus on promoting science, research and innovation through the STEAM approach, which combines science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. The organizers expect a family audience, including children.
More than 75 stands and 80 interactive activities
More than 75 stands are planned at the venue, staffed by researchers, scientists, teachers and representatives of organizations from Cyprus’ research and innovation ecosystem. The event’s official website also announces more than 80 interactive activities.
Visitors will be offered scientific experiments, demonstrations, workshops, games, quizzes, simulations, presentations and competitions. The program will cover topics ranging from technology and engineering to arts and mathematics. Some activities will be designed specifically for children and families.

Programs for schoolchildren and teachers
European Researchers’ Night in Cyprus has been organized by the Research and Innovation Foundation since 2006, in cooperation with key organizations from the country’s research and innovation ecosystem. Over this time, the event has become Cyprus’ largest event dedicated to presenting research, innovation and science to a broad audience.
As part of the 2026 program, initiatives for students, teachers and researchers are also planned throughout the academic year. In particular, the Science Unfold 2026 science communication competition will be held during European Researchers’ Night under the theme STEAMing Through Time! How research and innovation changed our world. Students will be invited to creatively and accessibly present a scientific invention or its practical application to the public.
The 2026 activities will be implemented as part of the Celebrate 2.0 – Two Decades Of STEAM-powered Inspiration project, funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe program for 2021–2027. The event is held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Cyprus.
