In Germany, an airplane unexpectedly fell onto its nose gear while parked
At Frankfurt Airport, a Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 unexpectedly nosedived due to a problem with the nose landing gear. Several people standing near the plane were injured in the incident, and the flight to Los Angeles was canceled.
An alarming incident occurred in Frankfurt involving a Lufthansa passenger plane, which suddenly dropped its nose to the ground while parked because the front landing gear unexpectedly collapsed, injuring several people nearby. The incident occurred on June 4 at approximately 12:45 p.m. local time, when the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner was parked at the gate and preparing for the flight, but passenger boarding had not yet begun, so only crew members and ground staff were on board.
Lufthansa confirmed the incident and noted that the aircraft’s front landing gear suddenly retracted, causing the nose of the aircraft to drop downward, and some people sustained injuries of varying severity and required medical attention. “While parked, the aircraft’s front landing gear unexpectedly retracted,” Lufthansa reported, emphasizing that experts are currently investigating the causes of the incident.

Due to the incident, the airline was forced to cancel flight LH450 from Frankfurt to Los Angeles, which was to be operated by this aircraft, and the aircraft itself was sent for a technical inspection.
Experts are currently investigating whether the cause could have been a technical malfunction or other factors related to the landing gear, as such incidents are considered atypical even for large, high-traffic airports.
