A deceased tourist was found in Germany following an explosion in a building
In Görlitz, rescue workers have found the first victim trapped under the rubble of a three-story apartment building following Monday’s explosion. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, as other people may still be trapped under the debris.
This was reported by Spiegel.
In Görlitz, on the third day of the operation at the site of the explosion in the residential building, rescuers, with the help of search dogs, located a person under the rubble. It turned out to be one of the two Romanian tourists who were in the apartment at the time of the explosion.
A targeted search is ongoing at two additional locations indicated by the search dogs—the last two missing persons are likely there.
As reported, the missing include two Romanian citizens, aged 25 and 26, who had arrived in the city as tourists and have not been in contact since the explosion. The husband of one of them, also a Romanian citizen, was in a supermarket at the time of the incident and was unharmed. Another missing person is a 48-year-old Bulgarian citizen who had come to Görlitz on business.
Initial reports mentioned five missing persons, but it turned out that two guests of one of the destroyed apartments had not yet checked in at that time.
