Germany has called for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the country — Bild
Tino Hrupala, co-leader of the far-right Alternative for Germany party, called for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the country during a party conference in Lebau.
This was reported by the publication Bild.
Hruppala specifically called for the withdrawal of American troops.
“Let’s start putting this into practice—by withdrawing American troops from Germany,” he said.
According to him, Germany should not get involved in international conflicts and should play a more independent role.
As an example of a model Germany should follow, he cited Spain, which did not allow U.S. troops to use its bases for operations against Iran.
At the same time, he sharply criticized international military operations and spoke out strongly against intervention in conflicts such as those in the Middle East.
As of early 2026, approximately 35,000–38,000 U.S. military personnel are stationed in Germany, making the country the largest hub for U.S. troops in Europe. These troops, concentrated in regions such as Stuttgart and Rhineland-Palatinate, provide NATO’s deterrent capability.
