Trial of suspended Paphos mayor Fedonas Fedonos to continue

In Paphos, Cyprus, the trial of suspended mayor Fedonas Fedonos, who is accused of rape and domestic violence, is due to continue on Thursday, Cyprus Mail reports. The hearing at the Paphos District Court will take place behind closed doors.

Reason for postponing the hearings

In July, the hearing was postponed because the prosecution was unable to secure the attendance of additional witnesses. The prosecution will be represented by Senior Counsel of the Republic Mikaella Pashiardi.

About ten prosecution witnesses have already testified in the case. Initially, another 18 people were expected to testify, but the number of witnesses is now expected to be limited to 20. Those due to testify at upcoming hearings include the complainant in the case.

Fedonos categorically denies all charges brought against him.
