Man arrested in Paphos on suspicion of storing untaxed tobacco

In Paphos, Cyprus, police arrested a 21-year-old man after searching his home. According to law enforcement officials, they found a large shipment of allegedly duty-free tobacco products there. This was reported by Cyprus Mail.

Search of the home

The search was conducted at around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday as part of an ongoing investigation. Officers found 73 cartons of cigarettes, four boxes of tobacco-heating devices (IQOS), six kilograms of rolling tobacco, and 11 kilograms of shisha tobacco in the home.

Goods seized as evidence

Police said the products found lacked the required markings and security features. According to law enforcement officials, this indicates that taxes on the tobacco products had not been paid.

The man was arrested on suspicion of storing untaxed tobacco products. All seized goods were added to the case as evidence. The investigation is being conducted jointly by Paphos police and the customs service.
