Petrol in Pakistan rises by 12.90 rupees per litre — Dawn
In Pakistan, new prices for petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) take effect on September 8. A litre of petrol rose by 12.90 Pakistani rupees to 358.77 rupees, while HSD increased by 3.72 rupees to 381.77 rupees per litre.
Dawn reports the revision of retail prices, citing a statement by the Pakistani government's Petroleum Division. The government also kept taxes and duties at 114 rupees per litre of petrol and 100 rupees per litre of diesel fuel.
Daily price review
On July 17, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced that fuel prices would be set daily due to fluctuations on the international market amid the resumption of hostilities between Iran and the United States.
Before that, the government had reviewed prices weekly since the beginning of March. The authorities also took measures to conserve fuel due to possible disruptions in oil supplies in the Middle East.

According to the minister, the cabinet and the prime minister instructed the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) to determine daily prices in line with international market trends.
Fuel price dynamics
The price of HSD declined from a peak of 520.35 rupees per litre recorded on April 3. After the war between the United States and Iran began on February 28, diesel started rising in price from about 281 rupees per litre.
On April 3, petrol reached a maximum of 458.41 rupees per litre, rising from 266 rupees at the beginning of March. Petrol in the country is mainly used by private transport, small cars, rickshaws and two-wheeled vehicles, while diesel fuel is used in freight transport, at power plants and in large generators.
Monthly sales of petrol and HSD amount to approximately 700,000–800,000 tonnes, while demand for kerosene reaches about 10,000 tonnes per month.
