In Pakistan, Hina Javed’s husband and domestic worker sent to jail

A court in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, sent digital media head Hina Javed’s husband, Faisal Asghar, and domestic worker Zeeshan to jail in connection with her murder case. The decision was made by Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Qasim Javed after the four-day period during which both suspects were held in custody for investigative purposes ended.

Court decision

As Dawn reports, police asked the court to place the suspects in judicial custody because their continued availability to investigators was no longer required. The court granted the request and ordered Asghar and Zeeshan to be sent to jail.

On August 29, the court extended the period during which both suspects were held in custody for investigative purposes by another four days.

Case circumstances

Police claim that Asghar may have killed his wife with Zeeshan’s assistance. According to police sources, Zeeshan allegedly stated during questioning that he strangled Hina during an argument between the spouses connected to a family conflict.

The same sources said that Javed tried to flee during the argument, but Asghar and Zeeshan, according to the investigation’s version, restrained her. Hina Javed was found dead on August 20 at her home in Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area; her body was tied to the shower in the bathroom.

According to police sources, the deceased woman’s father-in-law initially told law enforcement that thieves had allegedly entered the house. When police arrived at the scene, they found Javed’s body in the bathroom.
