Four police officers detained in Pakistan on suspicion of kidnapping cattle trader — Dawn
In Sahiwal, Pakistan, the Crime Control Department (CCD) detained four police officers on suspicion of kidnapping cattle trader Muhammad Hussain and extorting ransom. According to Dawn, those detained include Senior Constable Ghulam Farid, Constable Zubair Siddiq, and two CCD constables, Nadeem and Tahir Iqbal.
Case circumstances
According to CCD sources, on August 21 the four suspects allegedly abducted Hussain at gunpoint in the village of Chak 87/9-L. According to case materials, the man was taken to an unknown location, held in a room, and deprived of 260,000 Pakistani rupees and a mobile phone.
The statement on the basis of which the case was opened says that the kidnappers demanded another 4 million rupees for the trader's release and forced him to call his cousin, Qadir Hussain. He allegedly borrowed 400,000 rupees from a relative, Ghazanfar Ali, and handed the money over to the suspects near Fateh Sher Colony.

Further investigation
According to the CCD, the trader was released on Tuesday evening. Department sources claim that a total of 660,000 rupees is involved in the case: 260,000 was allegedly taken from Hussain, according to the case materials, while another 400,000 was handed over by his cousin.
The investigation also states that the suspects forced Hussain to record a false video claiming that he had allegedly been detained by police while shopping and released after a check. After his release, he contacted the police. Sahiwal CCD registered case No. 100/26 under Article 365-A of the Pakistan Penal Code and Article 155-C of the Police Order 2002. All four individuals have been detained, and the investigation is ongoing.
