In Durban, South Africa, 278 people who had been staying at a camp near the Department of Home Affairs office on Che Guevara Road will be transferred from Tuesday to the Lindela Repatriation Centre in Krugersdorp, Gauteng province. This was reported by TimesLIVE.
Migration committee decision
Spokesperson Ndhileka Cola said that the decision to relocate the group was made by the inter-ministerial committee on migration. According to her, the displaced communities were offered two options: return to their places of residence or move to the Lindela centre. Following consultations, they agreed to relocate to Lindela.
Law enforcement officers will escort the group during the relocation this week. The Gift of the Givers charity organisation provided food parcels for the trip.

Camp near a government building
On the eve of protests against illegal immigration on June 30, dozens of foreign nationals in Durban were driven from their homes and businesses. Fearing to return, they set up a camp near the government building. Since then, many of them have chosen repatriation to their countries of origin.
Cola also said that the government would continue discussions with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees on possible options for resettling the group to another country.
