Oil tanker flying Panama flag attacked in Strait of Hormuz
Near the coast of Oman in the Strait of Hormuz, the oil tanker EL GAIA, sailing under the flag of Panama, was attacked. A fire broke out in the vessel's engine room after the attack.
The Omani Maritime Security Centre reported the incident on Tuesday, according to The Jerusalem Post. According to its information, the tanker is being towed to a port in Oman after the fire.

Crew evacuation
An Omani naval vessel evacuated 23 crew members from EL GAIA. Two other crew members remain missing, the Maritime Security Centre said.
Location of the attack
At the time of the attack, the tanker was approximately 103 nautical miles northeast of Musandam. The statement by the Omani Maritime Security Centre provided no other details of the attack and did not specify who might have been involved.
