In South Africa, taxi industry leader Bafana Sindane, a business partner of Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni, is due to appear before the Madlanga Commission on Wednesday. This was confirmed during Sibanyoni’s appearance before the commission on Monday, TimesLIVE reports.
Review of possible ties to police
The commission is to determine whether Sindane had improper ties to the police and what their scope may have been. The Madlanga Commission is investigating allegations of criminality and political interference in the criminal justice system.
During the hearings, advocate Mpati Khofa, who represents both Sibanyoni and Sindane, said she would be unavailable from Tuesday until next week. She promised to submit an application on Sindane’s behalf to postpone the hearings by midnight.

Application for postponement
Commission chair Mbuyiseli Madlanga agreed that the application should be submitted by midnight. He also noted that Sindane must be present on Wednesday, as it is not known in advance whether the application will be granted.
Sindane and Sibanyoni are co-accused in a criminal case being heard by a court in Delmas. According to the source, they are accused of extorting 2.2 million rand from businessman Thomas Ntuli over an extended period. Charges in the case do not mean guilt has been proven.
