In Perth, a snack bar employee was dragged by a car during an alleged theft

In the Perth suburb of Belmont, a diner employee suffered serious injuries after being dragged a short distance by a car. According to police, the incident occurred following the suspected theft of a purse from the establishment on Vineyard Street, ABC News Australia reports.

Security cameras captured footage showing that shortly before 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, a hooded person entered the diner, walked behind the counter, grabbed a bag, and ran outside. An employee of the establishment ran after the person and approached the front passenger side of a white Holden Commodore sedan.

The video shows the woman trying to stop the car from driving away and then falling to the ground. Police said the victim, who is about 40 years old, was dragged by the car for a short distance. The woman was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries.

According to ABC News Australia, both women have been charged in connection with the incident. The woman from Bentley is charged with endangering the life, health, or safety of a person, aggravated trespass, and theft. The other defendant, who is from Training, is charged with endangering the life, health, or safety of a person and theft. One of them is scheduled to appear in court on the day the ABC report was published, and the other next month.
