In St. Petersburg, a deserter killed a guard during a prison transfer

In St. Petersburg, a soldier who had previously deserted his unit killed a guard during an escort.

This was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

According to the investigation, the soldier was detained on April 15 after deserting from his unit in Petrozavodsk. During a transfer on April 16, he distracted the escort and stabbed one of the guards several times. The guard died at the scene.

After the attack, the suspect fled but was quickly apprehended.

A criminal case has been opened under the article on murder in connection with the performance of official duties.

This is the second such incident in 24 hours. Earlier in the Orenburg region, another man, who was wanted after escaping from a military unit, opened fire on police officers, killing one law enforcement officer and wounding three others.
