A YouTuber was arrested in South Korea for posting a fake audio clip generated by AI
A YouTuber has been arrested in South Korea on suspicion of fabricating an audio recording using artificial intelligence. According to investigators, he attempted to discredit a well-known actor by creating a fake recording that allegedly suggested the actor had a relationship with a minor.

Last year, the YouTuber accused actor Kim Soo-hyun—one of South Korea’s most famous actors—of having a relationship with an actress when she was a minor. The actor himself denied the allegations, but his career quickly fell apart.
But this week, police arrested YouTuber Kim Se-wi on charges of spreading false information. He is accused of fabricating text messages and an audio recording using AI to frame the actor.
Kim Se-wi is known for publishing sensational stories and gossip about celebrities on his YouTube channel, Hover Lab. He denies all charges.
The actor’s representative stated that his innocence has finally been proven.
“The truth has finally been confirmed,” the statement reads.
Kim Soo-hyun found himself at the center of a scandal after actress Kim Sae-ron, with whom he had previously been in a relationship, was found dead in February 2025.
Her career had collapsed after she was caught driving under the influence in 2022. Police ruled her death a suicide. This drew intense scrutiny to her personal life, particularly regarding her relationship with Kim Soo-hyun.
He faced a wave of criticism after Hover Lab published what it claims are text messages exchanged between the couple when the actress was 15 and Kim Soo-hyun was 28.
The YouTuber also released an audio recording in which she says she began dating Kim Soo-hyun while she was in high school. Additionally, the actor was accused of sexually harassing the actress while she was a minor and of ignoring her financial difficulties.
At the time, Hover Lab reported that it had received this information from the actress’s family. In response, Kim Soo-hyun filed a defamation lawsuit against the YouTuber and the actress’s family.
Before appearing in court, the YouTuber told reporters that he denies any wrongdoing and that the audio recording had been verified as authentic by the National Forensic Service, a government agency.
“The arrest warrant is clearly based on false testimony,” he said.
In March 2025, Kim Su-hyun denied the charges against him at a press conference.
“I cannot admit to something I did not do. I did not meet with the deceased when she was a minor,” he said.
Since then, he has not appeared on any TV shows or modeling projects in South Korea.
