In the Polish Tatra Mountains, rescuers evacuated tourists who were stranded there due to heavy snow

In the Polish Tatra Mountains, a rescue team successfully evacuated a group of five hikers back to civilization.

This was reported by RMF24.

For several days, the group was unable to descend to the valley on their own due to extreme weather conditions and a high risk of avalanches.

The Polish Mountain Rescue Service (TOPR) deployed a helicopter to evacuate the people from the Valley of Five Lakes area.

The tourists had been staying in a high-altitude hut since Tuesday, as heavy snowfall and a Level 4 avalanche danger had blocked all safe escape routes.

All those rescued were promptly transported to Zakopane, and their lives are currently not in danger.

Rescuers note that the decision to evacuate by air was the only correct option given the situation in the high mountains.

Currently, a critical, level 4 avalanche danger remains in effect in the region. Over the past 24 hours, experts have recorded numerous avalanches of varying sizes, confirming the extreme complexity of the situation on the slopes.

The Mountain Rescue Service once again urges travelers to refrain from any hikes to high peaks in the coming days.

Weather conditions remain extremely unfavorable, and visibility and snowpack conditions do not allow for guaranteed safety even for experienced mountaineers.

As a reminder, a Ukrainian woman was detained in Poland for illegally smuggling Belarusians.

Ukrainians were also detained in Poland for smuggling 12 Russians.
