In Poland, Budanov raised the issue of bilateral relations
During his visit to Warsaw, Kirill Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, met with Marcin Przydacz, head of the Polish President’s Office for International Policy. The parties discussed the development of Ukrainian-Polish relations, current issues of cooperation between the countries, and also touched upon historical topics that remain important to both states.
According to the Office of the President of Poland, the conversation between Budanov and Przydacz focused on bilateral relations, including historical issues “arising from recent decisions by the Ukrainian side.”
On the same day, Budanov met with Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
This was reported by the Office of the President of Poland on social media.
Budanov discussed the UPA Heroes unit with the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense.
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski announced private consultations with Ukraine regarding the possible naming of one of the Special Operations Forces units “Heroes of the UPA.” According to him, this issue is being discussed in a diplomatic format.
Warsaw has reacted to the decision to rename the Ukrainian military unit. This concerns an elite unit of the Special Operations Forces, which, according to reports, was named in honor of the Heroes of the UPA. This has sparked a critical reaction in Polish society and political circles.
