Train service in Poland has been disrupted due to an accident at the Warsaw Central Station
On August 3, a malfunction in the rail traffic control system occurred at Warsaw Central Station, leading to disruptions in train service. Due to this technical malfunction, delays and schedule changes are being reported on a number of routes in Poland.
According to the railway operator PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK), the malfunction “may cause train delays of approximately 30 minutes.”
PKP PLK added that “some trains are rerouted through the Warsaw–Śródmieście station.” This is a railway station located next to Warsaw Central Station and connected to it by a tunnel.
“We ask that you promptly check information about your trips on the carriers’ websites, as well as on the Portal Pasażera service,” the infrastructure operator noted.
The state-owned company assured that “PLK’s technical services are working continuously on site.”
“We are making every effort to restore train service as quickly as possible and minimize disruptions to passenger service,” the statement emphasized.
In a subsequent statement, PKP PLK reported that at 7:50 a.m., the malfunction in the train control systems at Warsaw Central Station had been resolved.
“The train schedule is being restored. We ask passengers to promptly check information using the train search tool and with the carriers,” the statement noted.
As noted, after 8:00 a.m., trains passing through Warsaw were delayed by 30–40 minutes.
