A protest against hate speech was held in Warsaw following attacks on Ukrainians — PAP
In the center of Warsaw, about 100 people took part in the “Good Neighbor Rally,” organized to promote mutual respect and combat hate speech amid rising social tensions.
The event took place on Castle Square near Sigismund’s Column. It was attended by Poles, Ukrainians, and Belarusians, who brought flags of Poland, Ukraine, and a free Belarus, as well as posters calling for solidarity and an end to aggression.
According to the organizers, the main goal of the event was to draw attention to the need to combat hate speech and strengthen good-neighborly relations. Similar rallies also took place in Poznań, Łódź, and Słupsk.
The rally’s organizer, Dmytro Galko—a Belarusian by birth, former war correspondent in Ukraine, and analyst on combating disinformation—stated that the event proceeded peacefully and without provocations.
Participants in the event also called on people not to remain indifferent to acts of aggression. Aldona Hartwińska, a journalist for the Sestry.eu portal and a volunteer, noted that more and more people are concerned about incidents of hostility toward those who speak foreign languages on Polish streets.
According to PAP, Sunday’s “Good Neighbor Rally” was a response to recent incidents in Poland involving ethnically motivated attacks on Ukrainians.

As a reminder, on the evening of August 1 in the city of Kozhukhiv (Lubusz Voivodeship), three Ukrainian citizens—37-year-old Volodymyr, 32-year-old Vasyl, and 28-year-old Adelina—were attacked. The incident took place on the private grounds of a hostel where the victims were staying.
In the Polish city of Gdynia, law enforcement officers detained a 76-year-old Polish citizen who brutally attacked a 40-year-old Ukrainian woman. According to the investigation, the man beat the woman with a stick, after which he was detained by criminal investigators from the local police department.
In Wrocław, a Ukrainian couple was brutally beaten because of their accent.
