Spain has promised to return all illegal migrants from Ceuta to Morocco — Bloomberg
Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares stated that all migrants who entered the Spanish enclave of Ceuta illegally last week will be returned to Morocco.
According to Albares, most of the illegal migrants have already left Ceuta.
“The vast majority of those who entered the territory have already returned to Morocco. Every last one of them will be returned,” the Spanish foreign minister emphasized.
At the same time, the minister criticized the Italian government for tightening border controls on non-EU citizens arriving from Spain.
“There were countries that failed to live up to expectations, governments that failed to live up to expectations. The Italian government was one of them,” Albares stated.
He supported the position of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who had previously noted that more cases of illegal entry into Europe are recorded through Italy, Greece, and the Western Balkan countries than through Spain.
According to Albares, Ceuta and Melilla have never posed a threat to the integrity of the Schengen Area, whereas migration issues are arising in other regions of Europe, particularly on the Italian island of Lampedusa.
The Spanish foreign minister called for unity both within Spain and among European Union countries regarding the protection of external borders and the response to migration challenges.

As a reminder, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reported that most of the migrants who entered the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta illegally have already returned to Morocco. According to her, none of them reached mainland Spain or other European Union countries.
