In Poland, an intoxicated Ukrainian woman bit a police officer and now faces criminal charges
In Zambrów, Poland, a 39-year-old Ukrainian citizen bit a police officer during an incident while heavily intoxicated. The woman faces criminal charges, and proceedings have been initiated for her immediate deportation from Poland.
Law enforcement officers arrived at a residential complex after receiving a report of a woman lying unconscious on the sidewalk and not responding to passersby. Upon arrival, it became clear that the Ukrainian citizen was heavily intoxicated. Medical personnel who arrived at the scene examined her and determined that she did not require hospitalization.
The police officers decided to take the woman to a sobering-up station, but this triggered an aggressive outburst from her. She began using profanity toward the officers and actively resisted as they attempted to handcuff her.
As she was being placed in the police vehicle, the detainee bit one of the officers. The injured officer had to be rushed to an infectious diseases hospital for medical treatment.
After the detainee sobered up in the detention center, she was formally charged under two counts: insulting public officials while they were performing their duties, and violating the physical integrity of a police officer. Under Polish law, the woman faces up to three years in prison for committing these crimes.
At the same time, the local police submitted a request to the Polish Border Guard regarding the forced deportation of the offender. According to Katarzyna Zdanończyk, press secretary for the Podlasie Border Guard Unit, the decision to deport the 39-year-old woman to her home country has already been made and carried out. In addition to her deportation, the woman has been officially banned from entering Poland and the Schengen Area for a period of five years.
