A 39-year-old man died in Poland while paragliding

A tragic incident occurred in Poland during a group paragliding jump, resulting in the death of a 39-year-old man. Although the equipment functioned properly and the parachutes deployed, the landing resulted in a fatal injury. Medical personnel were unable to save the athlete’s life. This was reported by RMF24.

On May 1, near the city of Leszno in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, an accident occurred during a paragliding jump involving a group of six people who were descending from an airplane at an altitude of about 4,000 meters. According to Polish media, including RMF24, all participants in the jump had functional equipment, and the parachutes opened as expected, which usually indicates a controlled and safe descent phase.

However, during the final phase of landing, one of the paragliders suffered a severe impact with the ground, which proved to be a critical moment leading to serious injuries. Medical services arrived promptly at the scene and attempted resuscitation, but they were unable to save the man, and he died at the scene or shortly after the incident.

The deceased was a 39-year-old man from near Wrocław who, according to preliminary data, had experience with such jumps; however, the circumstances of the landing proved fatal even with functional equipment. Polish security services and rescue workers are investigating the details of the incident to determine the exact cause of the tragedy, which occurred during an aerial sports event.

For the first time in Poland, weather balloons carrying contraband cigarettes were discovered, having traveled hundreds of kilometers from the border with Belarus. The packages landed in a village near Krakow and became stuck near a residential building. Large quantities of cigarettes were found inside, and the launch site of the balloons remains unknown.
