Authorities plan to seize billions in assets from Russian billionaire Moshkovich

Russia plans to seize the assets of billionaire Vadim Moshkovich, founder of Rusagro, one of the country’s largest agricultural holdings.

This was reported by Interfax.

The lawsuit seeking the seizure of assets is scheduled to be heard by the Khamovniki Court in Moscow on May 4. In addition to Moshkovich, the former CEO of Rusagro, Maxim Basov, is also a defendant in the case.

The case involves the transfer to state ownership of movable and immovable property, land plots, funds, and corporate rights with a total value of several billion rubles.

Moshkovich himself has been in pretrial detention since spring 2025 on charges of bribery and fraud. According to investigators, he and Basov acquired a controlling stake in the company “Sunny Products” at an undervalued price without fulfilling their obligations.

It is currently unknown whether the confiscation will directly affect the Rusagro agricultural holding. According to market sources, the case may be linked to a struggle for control over major agricultural assets.

In Russia, there is a trend toward staff reductions across various sectors, including IT, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, retail, consulting, and other business services.

The Russian Ministry of Finance forecasts a sharp increase in regional budget deficits to $21 billion.
