A member of the Territorial Defense Forces was arrested in Poland on charges of spying for Russia
Officers from the Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) carried out a special operation in Poznań, during which they detained a member of the Territorial Defense Forces.
This was reported by the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza.
The man is suspected of collaborating with Russian intelligence and engaging in activities that threaten the country’s national interests.
The detainee was identified as Yaroslav K., a soldier of the 12th Greater Poland Territorial Defense Brigade.
According to Polish journalists, the security services took the suspect into custody on March 30, 2026, following a lengthy surveillance operation.
The investigation established that nine days before his arrest, Jarosław K. actively participated in a rally of the pro-Russian and anti-Western movement “Rodacy Kamraci” in Warsaw.
This organization is known for its destructive rhetoric and support for the Kremlin’s aggressive policies.
Suspicions of espionage cover the period from July 2023 to April 2024.
It is noteworthy that the man joined the ranks of the Polish Territorial Defense very recently—on March 8, 2024—presumably with the aim of gaining access to classified information.
The court has already reviewed the initial case materials and assessed the evidence gathered as indicating a high probability that a crime was committed.
Yaroslav K. is currently charged with being willing to act in the interests of foreign intelligence against his own state.
In addition to direct collaboration, the investigation is considering the possibility of systematic collection and storage of classified data.
This information was intended to be passed on to the Russian side, which could have caused significant damage to the defense capabilities of the Republic of Poland.
