Ukrainians have been detained in Poland on suspicion of human trafficking and money laundering

In Poland, law enforcement officials have detained ten Ukrainian citizens on suspicion of involvement in a human trafficking ring and the laundering of proceeds from criminal activities, including through cryptocurrency transactions.

This was reported by RMF24.

Officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Polish Police detained the suspects in Warsaw, Łódź, and Wrocław. According to the investigation, they are charged with participating in an organized criminal group, human trafficking, and laundering funds obtained from criminal activities.

During searches, authorities seized mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and other electronic devices from the detainees, as well as documents that may be relevant to the investigation. Narcotic substances were also discovered at one of the locations.

In addition, the suspects are facing charges of preparing to distribute narcotic and psychotropic substances.

According to Polish law enforcement, this arrest is part of a larger investigation in which twelve individuals have already received final court sentences.

As a reminder, approximately 420,000 Ukrainian citizens currently reside in four provinces in northern Poland.

In the Podlaskie Voivodeship, Polish law enforcement officers discovered five hot air balloons, each with packages of contraband cigarettes attached.

Recently, Lithuanian border guards recorded another attempt to illegally transport excise goods across the border with Belarus using weather balloons. During operations in the Šalčininkai, Ignalina, and Varėna districts, balloons were discovered carrying a total of 13,500 packs of cigarettes.
