A Russian cartoonist detained in Poland on murder charges has been charged with another offense
A Georgian citizen who was detained on suspicion of murdering Russian cartoonist and Kremlin critic Semyon Skrepetsky is suspected of involvement in another murder in Warsaw. Polish investigators are also looking into whether he may be linked to an organized crime network involved in contract killings.
Elnur M., a Georgian citizen detained in Poland in connection with the Skrepetsky murder, has been charged in connection with another murder committed in Warsaw about three and a half years ago.
At that time, two unidentified individuals attacked another Georgian citizen in his apartment and inflicted fatal stab wounds on him.
Investigators are considering several possible motives for the crime, including a contract killing or a criminal feud.
One of the alleged perpetrators, also a Georgian citizen, has already been sentenced to 12 years in prison. The identity of the second assailant remained unknown for a long time. Investigators are now looking into the possibility that Elnur M. was involved in this crime.
According to RMF24 sources, Polish law enforcement officials suspect that the detainee may be linked to an organized criminal group from Georgia.
This network, according to investigators, may have been involved in contract killings in Germany, Central and Eastern Europe, and the Balkans over the past several years.
Polish investigators are currently examining Elnura M.’s possible involvement in other crimes, not only in Poland but also abroad.
