Russia plans to revoke residence permits of relatives of foreigners on grounds of extremism
In Russia, there has been a proposal to revoke the residence permits of relatives of foreign nationals if they support a change in government or are suspected of "extremism."
This was reported by Vedomosti.
The proposal involves amendments to a draft law aimed at increasing liability for foreigners for a range of offenses.
Specifically, the Russian Ministry of Justice proposes to prohibit the issuance of residence permits to family members of foreign contract workers if there are grounds related to support for a violent change of government or participation in extremist activities.
If such status has already been granted, it may be revoked.
According to lawyers, grounds for this could include, in particular, the financing or planning of terrorist or extremist acts.
