Rio de Janeiro Celebrated China-Rio Friendship Day

Events marking China-Rio de Janeiro Friendship Day were held in Rio de Janeiro, bringing together about 150 representatives from China and Brazil. The event was aimed at promoting bilateral exchanges and cooperation, according to ECNS.

Participants included Tian Min, China’s Consul General in Rio de Janeiro; Huang Yehua, Chairman of the Brazil-China Science and Technology Innovation Center; Henrique da Nobrega, President of the Brazil-China Friendship Association; as well as representatives from various sectors.

Tian Min stated that relations between China and Brazil are experiencing one of the best periods in their history. According to him, the partnership between the two countries encompasses not only trade but also culture, technology, sustainable development, and coordination in international politics.

Huang Yehua emphasized the importance of stable and sustainable bilateral ties amid global uncertainty. He also noted that the countries can expand cooperation in innovation and economic development. Henrique da Nobrega stated that the association will continue to promote exchanges and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two nations.

The event was supported by the Guangdong Provincial Foreign Affairs Office. The cultural portion of the program featured Chaozhou-style Cantonese cuisine prepared by two Chinese chefs. Friendship Day, established by state law in 2018, is celebrated annually on August 8.
