Russia hastily deployed a frigate equipped with Zircon missiles to the Baltic Sea

Russia has strengthened its military presence in the Baltic Sea—the modern missile frigate *Admiral Kasatonov* has arrived there.

It is now the second large vessel of the Russian Northern Fleet to be deployed to the region in recent weeks.

The Admiral Gorshkov-class frigate is capable of carrying Kalibr and Onyx cruise missiles, as well as hypersonic Zircon missiles. Previously, it had escorted Russian vessels, including those associated with the “shadow fleet.”

Prior to this, the destroyer “Admiral Levchenko” arrived in the Baltic Sea. The reinforcement of the Russian naval group comes amid threats by Vladimir Putin of a “mirror” response to the West’s actions against Russian ships.

As a reminder, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin visited Iturup Island in the Kuril Islands—which is the subject of a territorial dispute between Russia and Japan—for the first time. Tokyo has already reacted to the Russian leader’s trip and lodged a strong protest with Moscow.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin claimed that Russians supposedly possess a “genetic code of a winner.”

Tokyo plans to consider countermeasures following Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s visit to one of the Kuril Islands. Japan considers the archipelago its own territory, which Russia also claims.
