Yemeni government aircraft struck Houthi positions near the Al-Qasr roundabout east of the city of Taiz. This was reported by Anadolu Agency, citing the state-run Aljoumhouriya TV channel. The channel provided no information on casualties or damage resulting from the strikes.
Fighting in Taiz province
The strikes took place amid intensified fighting in the southwestern province of Taiz, particularly in areas west of the city near the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
The Taiz military axis said government forces repelled a Houthi attack on the Al-Qadaha front in the west of the province and forced the attackers to retreat, inflicting losses on them. The number of casualties was not specified. Al-Qadaha is located along the road connecting Taiz with Mocha near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Earlier on Friday, the Yemeni army said that 30 Houthi fighters were killed and 60 wounded in fighting and airstrikes near the Al-Darifa intersection in the Al-Waziya district west of Taiz.

Changes on the front line
Fayad Alnoman, a Yemeni Ministry of Information official responsible for television affairs, told Anadolu that government forces and the Popular Resistance regained control of Jabal al-Bazilah mountain and the Madhula area on the Agbara front after heavy fighting.
According to media reports, the Houthis have recently advanced in parts of Al-Hudaydah and Taiz provinces and captured strategic areas, including Mocha and Red Sea islands, among them Perim Island in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Government forces also reported advances in Al-Jawf province toward its administrative center, Al-Hazm. Fighting is also continuing in the provinces of Marib, Ad-Dali and Al-Bayda.
The current escalation began in early July and has become the most intense since several years of relative calm following the truce in April 2022.
