A pacifist blogger was found hanged in a Russian prison

In the Voronezh Region of the Russian Federation, law enforcement officials have opened a criminal case under the negligence statute following the death of a 43-year-old pacifist blogger known by the pseudonym Vegan Christ-Lover of God.

The inmate was found hanged in a solitary confinement cell.

The tragedy occurred at Penal Colony No. 2, where the blogger was serving a sentence for his anti-war stance.

News of the prisoner’s death first emerged on April 17 from his father, but the prison administration concealed the circumstances of the incident from the family for a long time.

It was not until April 21, during a visit to the investigator, that the family was told the version of events suggesting suicide in solitary confinement.

The deceased’s relatives and friends categorically do not believe the version of a voluntary act of taking his own life. They emphasize that Khristolub Bozhiy was a devout Christian for whom suicide is an unforgivable sin.

Additionally, the blogger’s father noted that his son had “strained relations” with the prison administration and certain misunderstandings with other inmates.

Human rights advocates suggest that the blogger may have gone on a hunger strike in solitary confinement to protest the conditions of his detention.

He had previously resorted to such actions when he was placed in solitary confinement due to his defiance of the administration. The lack of detailed information regarding the case of negligence (Article 293 of the Russian Criminal Code) only reinforces doubts about the transparency of the investigation.
