Authorities in Russia are seeking to confiscate Yuriy Dud's apartment after he was added to the list of terrorists
The Basmanny Court of Moscow has issued an arrest warrant in absentia for journalist Yuri Dud on charges of “propaganda of terrorism” on the Internet under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The maximum penalty under this article is seven years of imprisonment. At the same time, the law provides for the possibility of confiscating certain property.
The Investigative Committee of Russia confirmed that criminal proceedings against Dud were initiated due to an interview with Denis Kapustin, the commander of the “Russian Volunteer Corps,” which fights on Ukraine’s side and is banned in Russia. The agency stated that during the conversation, “verbal statements containing justification and propaganda of terrorism” were made, after which the interview was published on YouTube. On September 23, Rosfinmonitoring added Dudya to its list of “terrorists and extremists.”
On Tuesday, the pro-government Telegram channel Shot reported that proceedings had begun to confiscate the journalist’s property for the benefit of the state. The property in question is a three-room apartment with an area of 78 square meters in the Pivdenne Butovo district of Moscow, valued at approximately 26 million rubles. Dud has owned it since 2012.
According to the channel, in April 2026, bailiffs prohibited any transactions involving the apartment due to fines the journalist had failed to pay. Currently, he can neither dispose of the property nor live in it. The next step is expected to be a court hearing on the confiscation of the apartment.
