Russia has begun restricting gasoline sales in the regions

UA.NEWS 02 June 2026 23:00
Russia has begun restricting gasoline sales in the regions

In several regions of Russia, including the Kursk and Belgorod regions, restrictions on gasoline sales have been imposed due to fuel shortages, while in the occupied territories, including Sevastopol and the Luhansk region, a rationing system and refueling limits have been introduced. Local residents are complaining about strict restrictions and fuel shortages.

In fact, the fuel crisis is gradually spreading to more and more regions, including border areas.

In the Kursk and Belgorod regions of Russia, as well as in the occupied territories, including Sevastopol and the so-called “LPR,” restrictions on gasoline sales have begun to be implemented, as a fuel shortage has emerged in local markets, which drivers and businesses are already feeling.

According to Kovalenko, the situation in Russian regions is rapidly deteriorating, while the federal government’s attention, in his view, is focused primarily on Moscow. “But do Muscovites even know where Belgorod is, or Kursk? For Putin, the main thing is Moscow and Muscovy; in other regions, let there be famine—that’s the attitude,” his post reads.

According to Russian media reports, some gas stations have begun refusing to fill fuel into canisters, citing internal restrictions within the Rosneft network, and there have also been instances where drivers are not allowed to fill their tanks completely.

Separately, it is reported that the occupied “LPR” has also imposed restrictions on the sale of fuel, specifically AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline and diesel fuel, setting a limit of 20 liters per person due to a sharp increase in demand.

In fact, the restrictions began to spread across several regions at once, indicating a deepening of fuel supply problems within the Russian supply system. This was reported by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

In recent months, Russian officials have been discussing a plan to organize the dispatch of Armenian citizens residing in Russia to Armenia so that they could participate in the parliamentary elections and support the opponents of incumbent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Earlier, Armenia appealed to the EU to send a rapid response team to counter Russian influence.
