A large-scale protest by ambulance workers is brewing in Romania

In Romania, ambulance workers have announced their readiness to join the medical workers’ protests. Union representatives warn that the strike could become the largest in the sector’s history. According to union leaders, the causes of discontent include working conditions, pay levels, and staffing issues in the healthcare sector. If the government fails to respond, the protest movement could expand significantly.

Unions are calling on the government to engage in negotiations and seek a compromise to avoid large-scale disruptions in medical services.

The National Union of Emergency Medical Services Workers (FNSAR) stated that its members plan to join the medical workers’ protests against the new wage law, and this could become “the largest protest in history.”

According to them, in its current version, the draft law will lead to a significant reduction in their actual wages and eliminate bonuses for working on holidays, hazardous working conditions, and so on.

"The final decision on the date of the protest and the relevant logistics will be made after consultations with representatives of the National Health Fund and the Ministry of Health," the union added.
