The EU has not confirmed that Hungary has released €6.6 billion from the Peace Fund

The European Commission has not confirmed reports that Hungary has lifted its veto on the €6.6 billion from the European Peace Facility earmarked for military support to Ukraine. Officials in Brussels state that they currently have no confirmed information regarding the release of these funds.

Hungary has not yet officially released the €6.6 billion in funds for military aid to Ukraine, as planned under the European Peace Facility.

“At this point, I cannot confirm this, as we are having many discussions regarding the European Peace Facility, and they are still ongoing. The exact use of the blocked funds is still being discussed with member states,” Hipper told EuroPravda.

She emphasized that “despite the freeze, member states continue to provide military support to Ukraine, and the High Representative (EU Foreign Affairs Chief Kaja Kallas) is in constant contact with member states to encourage them to increase the supply of ammunition and support for Ukraine."

"Discussions are ongoing, so this is a diplomatic conversation, with no further comments at this stage," Hipper concluded.

This was stated by European Commission spokesperson Anitta Hipper on Thursday, June 4, in response to a question from a European Truth correspondent in Brussels.

Hungary has unblocked EU funds for weapons for Ukraine.

Hungary’s new Prime Minister Péter Magyar made high-profile statements regarding the situation of the Hungarian national minority in Ukraine and the European Union’s future economic relations with the Russian Federation.

The foreign ministers of Ukraine and Hungary, Andriy Sibiga and Anita Orbán, held their first in-person meeting on May 22. During the talks in Helsingborg, the parties agreed to hold a second round of expert-level consultations next week to further discuss bilateral issues.
