Passenger charged in Scotland after incident on flight to Larnaca — Cyprus Mail
In Edinburgh, United Kingdom, 32-year-old Gerard Buist has been charged in connection with an incident on a Jet2 flight from Edinburgh to Larnaca, Cyprus. According to Cyprus Mail, citing the Daily Record, the man appeared before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.
Charges in court
Buist faces three counts of assault, one count of assault causing injury, and two counts of threatening and abusive behaviour. He was also charged with conduct that disrupted order aboard the aircraft.
The incident occurred on Wednesday on flight LS721, which was travelling from Edinburgh to Larnaca. About 30 minutes after take-off, the aircraft returned to Scotland due to an incident on board.

Return to Edinburgh
After landing safely in Edinburgh, the aircraft was met by emergency services, and police detained the suspect. Jet2 apologised to passengers for the disruption to the flight and said it applies a zero-tolerance policy toward inappropriate passenger behaviour.
According to FlightRadar24 data, the Boeing 737 departed Edinburgh and headed south toward Cyprus. The aircraft had barely crossed into English airspace before turning around near Newcastle.
