A suspect in an attempted break-in at a submarine base has been released in Scotland

A man detained in Scotland on suspicion of attempting to infiltrate a British nuclear submarine base has been released from custody.

This was reported by Reuters.

The man in question is a 34-year-old Iranian national who was arrested on March 19 along with a 31-year-old Romanian woman after attempting to enter HM Naval Base Clyde in the west of the country.

The Scottish Prosecution Service decided not to press charges against the woman but reserved the right to revisit the case if new evidence emerges.

The man was released pending the conclusion of the investigation. He did not appear in court, and the case against him remains open.

In the UK, two people have been charged after attempting to enter a naval base where nuclear submarines are stationed. The individuals in question are citizens of Iran and Romania who were detained following the incident in Scotland.
