A tourist bus overturned on the road between Susch and Zernez in Switzerland’s Graubünden region. Several people were killed and several others were injured, BBC News reported, citing local police.

Passengers from the Netherlands were on board

The crash occurred late on Thursday afternoon in the southeastern part of the Swiss Alps. A large group of rescuers, including several helicopters, was dispatched to the scene.

According to a representative of the General Association of Travel Companies of the Netherlands, speaking on behalf of tour operator OAD, there were about 48 passengers from the Netherlands on the bus. She told De Telegraaf that at that time she could not name the number of people killed and injured.

The bus was travelling from Austria

Photos published by Swiss media show the bus lying on its side near a narrow country road. Numerous ambulances and groups of rescuers can be seen nearby.

According to reports, the bus left the Netherlands on Monday. On the day of the crash, it was making a day trip to Switzerland from Austria. Zernez is an entry point for visitors to the Swiss National Park in the Alpine Engadin valley.
