In Sweden, Speaker of Parliament Andreas Norlén invited the leaders of seven parties to preliminary talks on forming a new government and treated them to coffee and a homemade sockerkaka cake. The Local Sweden reports.

Cake with fruit from the garden

Before the meetings began, Norlén told the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper that he had made sockerkaka, a type of sponge cake, with apples, blueberries and rhubarb from his own garden. According to him, he baked the cake himself.

Order of meetings

Social Democratic Party leader Magdalena Andersson was the first to arrive at the parliament speaker’s office at around 10:00. About half an hour later, Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson met with Norlén.

They were followed in the talks by Left Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar, Centre Party leader Elisabeth Ringqvist, Christian Democrats leader Ebba Busch, and Green Party co-chairs Amanda Lind and Daniel Helldén. Ringqvist, according to the publication, refuses to support a government in which Dadgostar holds ministerial positions. Busch says she does not intend to support Andersson as prime minister.

Liberal Party leader Simona Mohamsson was the last to arrive, at around 14:00. After the meetings, Norlén told journalists at a press conference that he had drunk eight cups of coffee during the day.
