At least 35 people were killed in Syria when two buses collided — Deutsche Welle
A major traffic accident occurred in eastern Syria, killing at least 35 people and injuring about 30 others. The accident occurred on Saturday on the highway connecting Damascus with the province of Deir ez-Zor.
According to the Syrian Ministry of the Interior, two buses collided. One was carrying security forces personnel, and the other was carrying civilian passengers.
After the crash, one of the buses caught fire. Military helicopters were dispatched to the scene to evacuate the injured and transport the bodies of the deceased.
The causes of the accident are currently being determined. Syrian authorities are investigating the circumstances of the fatal traffic accident.
