Britain Responds to Iranian Threats – BBC

British Defense Minister Wes Streeting told the BBC that London will not give in to intimidation from Tehran over its support for U.S. actions.

 In response to statements by Iranian officials claiming that the UK is allegedly a “legitimate target” for allowing its bases to be used for U.S. defense operations, British officials urged against overreacting.

The official emphasized that the country is fully prepared to defend its territory and allies against any attacks. At the same time, Britain categorically refuses to participate in U.S. offensive military operations against Iran, although it fully shares Washington’s position on protecting commercial vessels and ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. According to Stritting, under the right conditions, London is even prepared to lead a naval mission to clear the strait of mines. The minister plans to meet with Pentagon chief Pete Hagsett in the near future to coordinate further efforts.
