Three people, including a child, were killed in a plane crash in Slovakia
On August 2, 2026, a plane crash involving a small aircraft occurred near the Slovak village of Oková in the Banská Bystrica Region. Three people, including a child, were killed in the crash.
Nikola Zabková, a spokesperson for the Banská Bystrica Regional Police, told the TASR news agency about the incident.
According to the police spokesperson, the plane was on a sightseeing flight.
“According to the information confirmed so far, three people were killed in the crash of the light aircraft. Despite the rapid response of all emergency services, everyone on board sustained fatal injuries. Among the deceased are a 48-year-old pilot, a 38-year-old man, and a minor,” Zabkova noted.
According to the spokesperson, procedural measures are currently being taken to determine the causes and circumstances of the tragic incident. She added that, given the sensitive nature of the case and the ongoing investigation, it is currently impossible to provide more detailed information.
As a reminder, an L-39 “Albatros” training aircraft, which is in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces, crashed in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation.
A Norwegian Airlines passenger plane, which was en route to Dubrovnik, Croatia, on July 27, was forced to change course and make an emergency landing in Vienna. The cause was a crack in the aircraft’s windshield. The landing was safe, and there are no reports of injuries.
