In the US, 73% disapprove of President Trump’s actions on the economy — The Hill
In the United States, 73% of adults disapprove of President Donald Trump’s actions on the economy, according to a survey by The Associated Press-NORC Research Center. As The Hill reports, 65% of respondents believe that high prices are more attributable to Trump’s policies than to other economic factors.
Assessment of the economic course
Only 26% of respondents approved of the president’s overall management of the economy. His response to the rising cost of living was rated positively by 17% of survey participants.
About 69% of Americans, including half of Republicans, said that Trump’s economic program had turned out worse than they expected. Another 23% said it met their expectations, while 7% said it was better than expected.

Sentiment about the country
Sixty-one percent of respondents reported that the state of the national economy had worsened since Trump returned to the White House, while 23% believe it had improved. Likewise, 61% of survey participants said that the country overall was in worse shape, while 26% said it was in better shape.
Approval of Trump’s economic program has declined by 14 percentage points since March 2025. Most respondents also described the president’s actions as worse than expected in trade negotiations — 58%, foreign policy — 55%, and immigration — 48%.
The AP-NORC survey was conducted on September 24–28 among 2,140 respondents. The margin of error is 2.9 percentage points.
