Shops burned in Sur Baher on the outskirts of East Jerusalem — Anadolu Agency
Several commercial shops caught fire in the Palestinian village of Sur Baher on the southeastern outskirts of East Jerusalem after Israeli forces used tear gas and stun grenades during clashes with local residents. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.

The Jerusalem Governorate said that crowd-control munitions caused the fire during a confrontation near the entrance to Sur Baher.
The Palestinian news agency Wafa also reported the clashes, citing the Jerusalem Governorate. Videos shared on social media show rescuers trying to extinguish the flames.

Tensions surrounding the Al-Aqsa compound
The events took place amid heightened tensions in East Jerusalem. Earlier that day, according to Palestinian reports, Israelis entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and held Jewish prayers in its courtyards.
This was preceded by visits and religious events involving Israeli officials and visitors ahead of Yom Kippur. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and other individuals visited the Al-Aqsa compound, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited tunnels beneath East Jerusalem. Netanyahu also posted a video and photos on Instagram of his participation in Jewish Selichot prayers near the Al-Buraq Wall.
