Estonia's first modular shelter is being installed in Tallinn
Work has begun in the Estonian capital on the installation of the country’s first modular shelter designed to protect civilians during air raid alerts and potential shelling.
The shelter is being installed on Juhkentali Street in Tallinn as part of a pilot project. The structure is modeled after the concrete shelters used in Ukrainian cities near the combat zone as quick-access shelters for passersby.
The modular shelter consists of special high-strength concrete blocks. Its main advantage is mobility—if necessary, the structure can be quickly moved to another location or expanded to accommodate more people.
The shelter was a gift to Tallinn from the construction company Citysec Industry.
This is the first facility of its kind not only in the capital but in all of Estonia.
