In Thailand, a police officer shot his teacher wife at a kindergarten
In Chonburi province southeast of Bangkok, a police officer shot his wife, who worked as a kindergarten teacher. All 44 children at the facility were unharmed, Channel NewsAsia reports.
The shooting occurred outside the classroom
Sayan Klomaon, head of the Nong Pla Lai subdistrict council, told AFP that the police officer came to the kindergarten at around 10:30, spoke with his wife, and then shot her. According to him, it happened outside the classroom, so no children witnessed the attack.
After the shooting, the police officer drove home. Law enforcement surrounded the house where he was staying and negotiated his surrender. The motive for the attack has not yet been established.

Evacuation and psychological support
Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong said that 44 children, three teachers and three other staff members were safely evacuated from the kindergarten. The facility was ordered to close; authorities also announced psychological support for children and staff following the incident.
In 2022, a former police officer armed with a firearm and a knife attacked a childcare facility in northern Thailand. Twenty-four children and 12 adults were killed then.
