A memorial to Polish victims of World War II will be erected in central Berlin
Germany plans to erect a permanent memorial in the center of Berlin to honor the Polish victims of World War II and the German occupation of Poland from 1939 to 1945.
The memorial is planned to be located on the site of the former Kroll Opera House, near the Bundestag. A competition for the best design is currently underway, and the jury is set to select the winner in December 2026.
The German government noted that on September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany invaded Poland, marking the beginning of World War II.
The memorial is intended to honor the memory of the millions of people who fell victim to German aggression and occupation.
A temporary memorial to the Polish victims of the German occupation was unveiled at this site back in June 2025. It was created on the initiative of the German-Polish Institute.

As a reminder, Ukraine and Germany will expand their joint arms production.
At present, other countries have not made any specific commitments regarding the transfer of additional air defense systems or missiles to Ukraine. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadepul following a trip to Kharkiv. According to him, requests from partners are at least not being rejected, but no specific agreements have been reached yet.
