Russia’s Central Election Commission reports cyberattacks on online voting in Moscow — YLE News
In Moscow, Russia — an aggressor state — delays occurred during online voting in elections to the lower house of parliament, the State Duma, due to powerful cyberattacks. This was reported by YLE News, citing the Interfax agency.

According to Interfax, the attacks were recorded in Moscow on the night from Friday to Saturday, as well as on Saturday morning. The head of Russia’s Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, told state media that all attacks had been repelled and that the situation was under the authorities’ control.
The Russian authorities, led by President Vladimir Putin, urged citizens to give preference to voting via the internet. On Friday, the Kremlin released a photo of Putin voting at his desk.

The elections will last three days
Voting is taking place from Friday to Sunday. Voters are electing 450 State Duma deputies, as well as representatives of regional authorities.
The victory of Putin’s United Russia party is considered predetermined. In many electoral districts, other parties have no candidates. The opposition was suppressed and barred from participating in the elections. In July, Russia’s Supreme Court removed the Yabloko party from the elections; YLE News calls it the only anti-war party.
At the same time, Yabloko was able to nominate independent candidates. The head of the party’s Moscow branch, Kirill Goncharov, called on supporters to come to polling stations and told YLE News that he fears these may be the last elections in Russia.
